Center of the Universe
That boy he clutches minutes in his greedy little fingers
all the day long
But he drops them through his pocket holes, waves of ethereal dominoes
when he's alone
Silent they fall and disappear
Drops to mist
Stones to dust
Sand to glass
He says, "There's nothing to save, nothing that lasts, no one succeeds, and
no one's to blame."
That's probably real as the wind on his face but it's not what he believes
it's not the same
Like fire burns and razors cut
Glass will break
Water makes wet
And "I am"
He thinks, "Maybe Now, when Later, it will
be just the same"
We can live it new and see it again --
See it all again
Like old times you don't recall
A familiar face on an age-old child
He knows one thing for sure:
Do it now
He won’t believe what he knows
He won’t believe
He won't believe
He won't believe
all the day long
But he drops them through his pocket holes, waves of ethereal dominoes
when he's alone
Silent they fall and disappear
Drops to mist
Stones to dust
Sand to glass
He says, "There's nothing to save, nothing that lasts, no one succeeds, and
